About Massage...
In the past, massage has been perceived as a luxury. In recent years, therapeutic massage has been proven to improve physical and mental health. As people age, they naturally become less active. This lack of physical activity can lead to the onset of other conditions which, if not dealt with, can greatly reduce their quality of life.

The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) has been promoting the use of massage therapy for some time now. According to a recent study, there is a general awareness of massage therapy but a lack of understanding of its direct benefits.

According to the Touch Research Institute, massage is extremely useful in the treatment of Alzheimer's patients, as it can facilitate relaxation and communication.

In the case of arthritis sufferers, it can greatly assist in pain management and help increase range of motion. It also triggers natural joint lubrication, which is extremely important for those suffering from arthritis.

Massage Benefits...
In addition to feeling great, massage provides the following physical benefits:

  • Stimulates blood and lymph circulation for muscles, bones and nerves
  • Enhances immune system response
  • Promotes mental well being
  • Accelerates rehabilitation of joint replacements
  • Maintains ambulatory status
  • Nurturing and healing touch
  • Lessens muscle spasms and pain
  • Enlivens tired and sore muscles
  • Helps relieve arthritis pain and soreness

wellness2Why Massage Works...
When muscles are overworked, waste products such as lactic acid can accumulate in the muscle, causing soreness, stiffness, and even muscle spasm. Massage improves circulation, which increases blood flow, bringing fresh oxygen to body tissues. This can assist the elimination of waste products, speed healing after injury, and enhance recovery from disease. Therapeutic massage can be used to promote general well-being and enhance self-esteem, while boosting the circulatory and immune systems to benefit blood pressure, circulation, muscle tone, digestion, and skin tone.
