It's All Relevant!
Written in honor of the first anniversary
of the September 11th attacks
By Mary-Michael Levitt, Sept. 1, 2002
In the altitude,
the red is disappearing
where the ocean of tears
meet the mountains of God
the smell of salt and fire
merge together in agony
through endless time.
The journey is made
step by step
trekking the way towards the safe haven
the towering trees scoff at the wind
sparkling landmarks of steadfastness
where melting clouds surrender
whispering droplets of dew.
The torrent of tears.
powering up, powering down
in an avalanche of love
windswept fire in the heart of the mountain
the heavy load made lighter
in the harbor of trust
surrounded by God's natural arms.
In the altitude
the red is disappearing
and in this prayerful moment
of melting clouds
serenity unfolds, heart gripping
in a perfect suspension of time
the loss filtered away if only for a moment.
But winds cannot blow this hurt away
the bold full moon, venerable, sublime tries
lighting the way protecting the innocent
sheltered by the power of the white light
slipping away from a world standing still
in unstoppable silence.
The mountain fog lifting
reveals another path
gentle warm air in a rising sun
fuels, rejuvenates, renews
sandwiched clouds reveal visions
grief wiped clean by the
tender hearted sovereign
A journey to peace
in the altitude
where the red disappears
into grace.
