Women Writing by the Sea
A weekend retreat for readers, writers, thoughtful life travelers
THE SPIRITUAL MEMOIR:
WRITING TO UNLOCK THE MEANING OF YOUR LIFE AND INFLUENCE THE WORLD
October 3-6, 2008
Grandview Mansion
167 Long Beach Blvd
Long Beach Township, NJ 08008
Leave the stress and confusion of the modern world for a long weekend. Connect to the power and beauty of your life stories and learn to write them in a way that touches hearts and transforms lives, including your own. The words that flow from our pens weave meaning through and among our life experiences. This meaning grows into wisdom and healing and, often, beautiful works of art. Learn to summon, present and arrange pieces of your life and inner history into a rich memoir full of surprises. You will outline a book project, write drafts of some passages and leave with inspiration to keep you going.
Experience the luxury of the Grandview Mansion, an 8,000-square-foot house on a private beach, home of the Women Writing by the Sea Retreat.

The Invitation to Supervision
Explore the professional, cultural and personal relationship that centers around the relief of your clients suffering.
This weekend is an invitation to be present in the study of relationships both with ourselves and those we serve. How do you use yourself in this relationship? The retreat will open conversations with our personal commitment to honor who you are. We invite you to bring your passions, life goals and family history. Explore how you work to experience both your own and your client’s emotional field while transforming their suffering into hope, peace and purpose.
The Experience of Community
Living together in a learning community affords all participants the opportunity for mentorship on a grand scale.
Remove yourself from all distractions, seize your creativity, strengthen professional relationships and honor your process of living and working. It is the intent of this retreat to inspire your personal wisdom and spiritual well being which is at the heart of natural wellness. The retreat facilitators will engage in a process to emphasize your capacity for resilience designed to maintain a personal level of empathy and compassion for self and others.
Weekend Festivities
Saturday Night Celebration of Life:
We believe in celebrating our culture, gender, gifts, talents, and all other parts of ourselves. Do you sing, dance, write poetry, play with photography, play an instrument, draw, paint, tell a story, read a favorite script, write, invent, or want to share an accomplishment or special interest. We will arrange for displays, readings, performances, photography slide shows, etc. Most of all we encourage you to express your culture by wearing your native dress for the evening. Use style, color, fabric, costume, and any other expression. Everyone’s contribution will make for an evening to remember.
Weekend Treats
Publications: If you have authored an article or book please bring copies to share or purchase in the Retreat library.
Lending Library: We will be setting aside space to share your favorite book, a place to sit and incubate new ideas. Bring a book to share for the weekend in the Lending Library.
